60. Lightning

About

My first lightning photo ever. Nothing really spectacular, but well it's enough for me at the moment.

What an ordeal it was to get this up here. First, woke in the middle of night because of the thunderstorm. Got up and prepared the camera with some ad hoc plastic bag protection. Got to the location I wanted ad started shooting. Batteries ran dry after about 15 minutes and I had no spare. Went home, quite wet and got to sleep again. Got up today and transfered the shots - at least i thought so. Erased everything from the camera and realized that not all of the photos had been transfered. Got a hold of some recovery software - and well, here it is. The only shot that actually had a visible lightning in it (most of them didn't seem to strike ground). Smooth work flow...

Lens: Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Post processing: Minor levels adjustments, increased clarity, reduced color noise (from the high ISO setting) and cropped.

  • Claus Petersen: Dramatic and dangerous at the same time, but I would have cropped it a bit to the left here, there is just too much loss of detail in the darkness to the left.
