38. Orange Beetle

38. Orange Beetle

I was actually set out to get some photos of the bushes flowers, but it was swarming with these orange / redish beetles so instead I tried to get in close to them; it's really hard to get them to pose the way you would like to but luckily I got a few reasonably good shots.

Does it seem like there's a little camera shake blur, or is it just me?

Cropped it from a landscape shot, adjusted levels, desaturated green, saturated red and orange, increased contrast and a few other minor adjustments. Photographed with a 17-85mm USM IS lens.

Oh yeah - I actually used my 430EX flash for fill light for this one. Even though it was shot during bright daylight this specific bug were sitting on a flower in the shadow deep in the bush så needed some extra lighting. Probably should have used the image stabilization in the lens or a higher ISO setting to prevent the slight blur.
